Recently, I came across an advertisement from Malabar Gold & Diamonds featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan. I had seen her steal the limelight at the Lakme India Fashion week 2016 when she walked the ramp as the show stopper for Sabyasachi Mukherjee. With women in the showbiz avoiding coming on camera during their pregnancies, Kareena elegantly took over the ramp flaunting her baby bump. And she looks beautiful and glowing in this #KareenaAnniversarySurprise Diamonds Unlimited ad. It is such a cute one, I insist that you watch it before reading further.
Here is the video:
The necklace is so gorgeous that I found it difficult to concentrate on one thing, I was confused about who to look at : Kareena or the Diamond necklace. Kareena’s pregnancy is definitely going to be a turning point in her career since she will be the only top rated actress to have stayed in the limelight while carrying a baby. She looks so beautiful in this Malabar Gold and Diamonds commercial!
The ad took me back to my wedding and first anniversary. It was such a beautiful time that I love going back to thinking about it to lift my spirits whenever I am feeling down. Wedding is such an important day in a girl’s life, it was the same for me too. I planned so much to look my best on the day.
Since Jodha Akbar jewelry was really popular those days, I wanted to go for it for my wedding outfit too. I picked a rental shop in Chandigarh that is famous for housing latest trendy jewelry. Kundan jewelry is the preferred form of bridal jewelry for Punjabi brides. I looked at many sets before choosing a gorgeous kundan jewelry set. But I ended up going for an antique gold set since the embroidery on my bridal lehenga was done in antique gold thread. I still opted for a kundan nath which had a tiny flower on a gold ring. I think matched what Aishwarya Rai sported in the movie as Jodha Bai.
I did not have access to jewelry designs and latest trends like we do now online. If I was getting married any time soon, here would be my top picks in each piece of jewellery:
Diamond set (necklace and earrings)
Chuda (Plastic Bangles for Punjabi brides)
Nath (Nose Ring)
Here is a pic from my actual wedding:
In terms of anniversary gifts and surprises, I love to exchange gifts but hate surprises. My husband loves surprising me, haha! But over the years, since we have been married for a while, we have a ritual. Either we ask the other person what they would like to receive as a gift or just buy something thoughtful. Spa vouchers, gift vouchers, high-end makeup, perfumes and mobile phones are the kind of things I usually ask for (not all at the same time). He likes to go for electronic devices or having meals at top restaurants. Now that I think about it, diamonds would be nice as a gift too. There are 4 months to our next anniversary, I think I must start dropping hints 😉
