Hello beautiful people! I am so excited to share with you a mask sheet that is unique and more effective than just a moisturizing cream/essence like many other mask sheets I have used this year. So just for the sake of making a point, let me tell you that I have used face mask sheets from The Face Shop (my favorite until yesterday), Etude House, Innisfree, Missha and Nature Republic. And Holika Holika Makgeolli Brightenening mask sheet takes the cake!
Holika Holika Makgeolli Brightening Mask Sheet
Containing Makgeolli extract that’s rich in minerals, vitamins and enzymes helps to keep your skin bright and clear.
For all skin types.
Directions Of Use:
- Apply toner to your skin after washing
- Open up the package, unfold the masksheet, and fit the mask over the face
- Remove the mask after 15 to 20 minutes, and past the remaining essence gently to absorb.

Actually I received this mask sheet as a freebie with my first ever shopping spree at Holika Holika. Now since I had no idea what Makgeolli was, I had no special expectations from this Mask sheet. I have been using my The Face Shop Blueberry and Rice face masks from my face mask galore post for almost a month (2-3 times a week) so I used this yesterday just for a change. And this face mask is now my favorite!
The mask sheet is similar in all aspects to The Face Shop mask sheets in shape, feel and size but the essence has something unique. It smells sweet (which of course is not a big point in my opinion for skin care items). The sweetness is not overpowering but it is more pronounced than the face masksheets by other Korean brands like The Face Shop, Etude House etc.
Makgeolli (I have now learned) is a Korean alcohol. So that explains the wonderful tightening effect this face mask gives to the face within 10 minutes of placing it. And I think they might have added the sweet scent to mask the scent of alcohol. So basically your skin is drunk after applying this face sheetmask! haha
One point that I would like to state is that this mask sheet is suitable for all skin types. I have dry skin and I did not feel that my skin was any drier. Usually alcohol-based cosmetics supposedly dry out skin and are suitable only for oily skin types.
I really like how smooth and tight my skin felt after applying it even though I am not sure if the brightening powers of this mask sheet were revealed in one time use. Maybe if I buy a 10-sheet pack, and use it regularly I may see a difference. I would still give it 4.5 (0.5 deducted for fragrance). I did not see this masksheet when I recently checked out their store (but didn’t buy anything) but it is available on ebay and on Holika Holika english website! Have you used Holika Holika face mask sheets?
