Lipstick range: Aishwarya Rai Bachhan, the brand ambassador of L’Oreal Paris, released the Color Riche Collection Star Pure Reds lipsticks in India a few days ago. There are 7 shades available in limited edition range in India and each one, despite belonging to the red color family, brings something unique to the table.
Collection Star Pure Reds shades:
Pure Brick by Aishwarya Rai is a brown based red which can easily be summed as the brick red shade. It is the closest shade to the Pantone Color Of the Year – Marsala from this lipstick range.
Pure Scarleto by Blake Lively is the Bright Red color that we usually associate with a Tomato!
Pure Vermeil by Fan BingBing which is a coral red that I think will work great for the upcoming seasons.
Pure Rouge by Freida Pinto is the deeper red that leans towards Maroon and will work great for all Indian skintones.
Pure Amaranthe by Gong Li is the “pink-est” red from this range just shying away from being a full on Hot Pink.
Pure Fire by Li BingBing is a bright orange shade which was in rage last spring and will make its appearance again this spring too.
Pure Garnet by Sonam Kapoor is the red leaning towards plum and is another one of the shades that will work for all medium skintones.
There is a red for everyone in the L’Oreal Paris Collection Star Pure Reds collection!
Review: L’Oreal Paris Collection Star Pure Reds lipsticks come in a black bullet packaging similar to the Moist Matte lipsticks. The lipstick shade is visible on the outside on a small square while the rest is black with the collection and brand ambassador name associated with the shade printed in Gold on it. Each shade is coded with a CSR number, Pure Brick is CSR8. Overall the packaging is pretty chic, functional and travel-friendly.
The L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Collection Star Pure Brick shade is a brick red shade with tiny gold specs which are not visible at a distance and do not appear on the lips (as shimmer) but do give a bit of a dimension to the lips. So despite being a Matte, the Pure Brick shade does not lay flat on the lips. It is a beautiful brownish-red, that is not as intimidating as a full-on red shade (like Pure Scarleto).
The lipstick applies like a dream on the lips and sets to a matte tone within minutes of application. It does not dry out the lips or feathers out the lipline which sometimes happens with deeper colors. I have not noticed this settling into the lines of the lips in fact it feels moisturizing for a long time. I even took this to Bangalore Fashion Week with me (Day3) and reapplied it twice during my 11 hours stay there. The lasting power is 6 hours or more for me and I did not even apply a lip balm over this through the day! A lot of people complain about scents of some lipsticks but the Collection Star Pure Reds lipsticks do not have a noticeable scent.
This lipstick also leaves a slight stain behind which increases the lasting power of the color plus even when it fades away, you never have uneven lips on the show. Another pro is that the color is buildable! I usually do one swipe to get the shade on the lips during the day while at night, I use 2-3 swipes for a bolder and more vivid color payoff. With all the longevity and staining, this lip color is easy to remove with any makeup cleanser unlike some deep lipsticks that do not go away until scrubbed hard.
In short this is my new favorite lipstick!
Repurchase: Yes. I am in love with the pigmentation, color selection and lasting-power of these lipsticks. They feel so good on the lips!
Until two years ago, I might have shied away from such bold lipstick shades but I have been loving the deeper shades these days. Although each shade is different, I really loved the Pure Amaranthe, Pure Brick (which I already own), Pure Vermeil and Pure Rouge from this collection. Which are your favorite shades?
