L’Oreal True Match Genius 4-in-1 Foundation – Review, Swatches, FOTD, Price in India!
The weather is finally changing in Delhi, at least in the mornings and evenings. I am looking forward to the next month when the weather is a bit more pleasant during the day. After the middle of November, the weather will start becoming cooler than my liking. Of course, the weather will not stay constant all year long to please me. Anyway, enough with the weather rant, let’s move on to important things like makeup 😉 I picked up the L’Oreal True Match 4-in-1 dash just because the outrageous claims intrigued me. I felt that if this thing worked, it would be a lifesaver. I have been trying it for about 6 weeks now so here is the detailed review for you.
Product: L’Oreal True Match Genius 4-in-1 Foundation – G2 Gold Porcelain
Price: 1295 INR
Claim: The 1st makeup genius by True Match – 4 professional gestures into 1 easy step perfect complexion anytime, anywhere. It smoothes skin surface like a primer, for a never-before velvety finish. It glides and unifies like a fluid foundation, thanks to innovative ultra-gliding texture. It covers imperfection like a concealer, for 100% flawless skin canvas. It finishes like a refined powder, for 12-hour lasting perfection that perfectly matches your skin, your shade.
The L’Oreal True Match dash comes in a plastic case that resembles the shape of a phone cover and opens sideways. Despite using it over the course of 6 weeks, I always try to open it length-wise. The product is visible from the clear window of the cover while the rest of the body is covered with text print (saying Genius). It could have been designed like a normal compact where the sponge is held in a compartment underneath the compact. It looks really chic, a mirror somewhere might have added to the overall appeal, though.
I have tried plenty of alleged multi-purpose products in the past to be sceptical about the claims. When I swatched this foundation, it felt like a normal cream foundation/concealer to me. It made me curious about the priming action of this foundation. I applied it to one side of my face (photo below).
As you can see, it did even out my skin even though there was no difference in the appearance of my pores. It worked like a light coverage concealer on the dark circles under my eyes.
For the rest of my face, it looked like a light to medium coverage cream foundation. It did not feel very heavy on the skin. I liked the way my skin looked immediately after I applied it. I have dry skin so I do not suffer from oiliness after I apply my foundation. Usually, I just powder my T-zone to set my foundation. I failed to understand how this makeup product was going to accomplish the task of a face powder.
I waited for 2 hours before taking a close look at my “foundation”. It did not look as even all over my skin. I felt like the dry parts of my face(not flaky) looked alright but the product had disappeared quite a bit from the sides of my nose, mouth and under my eyes. I did not touch up and went about my day.
7 hours after application, when I came back home from work, I looked at my makeup and the foundation had completely disappeared from my nose, under eye area and most parts of my forehead. Of course, very few foundations last that long but I was disappointed to see how much it had disappeared considering the claim of 12 hours of wear.
Here is my FOTD featuring the Loreal dash:
This 4-in-1 foundation looks good when it is applied fresh and photographs well. You can apply it if you are going to need a maximum of 3 to 4 hour of wear from the foundation.
FTC: Bought by Ritu KT for review purposes.
The L’Oreal True Match range has some amazing foundations, BB creams and powders. I am not too keen on this 4-in-1 foundation, though. It might work for normal skin but it might be a bit heavy for oily skin and may highlight the flakiness of dry skin. I think the cute packaging and light coverage are the two points that work in favour of this product.
