Lipliners were not my thing until I started using deeper shades of lipstick. I simply didn’t feel the need for them but after using them now, I feel that the lipstick looks better, stays longer and applies evenly. It is just a few seconds of effort to get a good look to the lips so I have started using my lipliners more. Until buying new ones from The Face Shop, I only had one – Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lipliner in 540 Hollywood Red.
Product: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipliner 540 Hollywood Red
Claim: Keep your lip color beautiful and get smooth, defined lips with matching lip liners that won’t smudge, smear, feather or bleed!
Maybelline Color Sensational Hollywood red is a pinkish red shade. It is a bold shade and looks good under most medium to dark lipsticks in the red and brown category. I have also used this alone with a lip gloss and it works just fine!
These lipliners stay long and are matte, these are creamy when new and start getting a bit dry in time, and are still easy to spread on the lips! These are not retractable so you have to sharpen them which is not something I absolutely hate or like. It’s a chore but otherwise, I like the color payoff, the size of the pencil (a lot of product) and the longevity it gives to my lipsticks!
These do not stain the lips and are easy to remove with a wet tissue/makeup remover! They do not bleed, feather out and do not feel slick (major plus point in my opinion) but do remember to wear a lip balm underneath to keep the lips hydrated. My only issue is the weird crayon-y chalk-y smell of these lipliners!
I got this lipliner quite sometime ago and it is almost time for me to say goodbye to this product but since I have had similar experience with other Maybelline lipliners, I thought I would review it and state the points that are true for all of their Color Sensational lipliners! Hope this was useful.
